By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 6: An art exhibition Agraj Ka Bimbaharu (Image of the Elderly) is going on at Nepal Art Council, Babermahal.
Art works of over three dozen senior artistes are on the display in the exhibition jointly organised by Pagoda Group and Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation.
Art works of late eminent artists Tej Bahadur Chitrakar, Lain Singh Bangdel, Nunen Raj Shakya, Manuj Babu Mishra, Uttam Nepali, Puran Khadka and Shankar Raj Singh Suwal are attractions of the seven-day exhibition.
Similarly, works of veteran artists Govind Narayan ‘Jya-Poo’, Thakur Prasad Mainali, Gopal Kalapremi, Laya Mainali have added liveliness to the exhibition.
The art works of veteran artists Vijay Thapa, Batsa Gopal Vaidya, Sashi Bikram Shah, Shashi Kala Tiwari, KK Karmacharya, Madan Chitrakar, Kiran Manandhar, Krishna Manandhar, Birendra Pratap Singh, Shyam Lal Shrestha, Gautam Ratna Tuladhar, Govind Dangol, Radheshyam Mulmi, Ramesh Khanal, Mukesh Malla, Jeevan Rajopadhyay, Navindra Man Rajbhandari, Dr. Seema Sharma Shah and Uma Shanker Shah are also displayed.
All the artists whose works are put on display are aged above 62 years.
Pradhumna Shrestha, a member of Pagoda Group, said, “We have learned about art under the influence of veteran artists. This art exhibition is a tribute to veteran artists who have contributed to the development of Nepali art in an unprecedented way.”
The motto of this exhibition is to motivate young artists and help them develop their creative skills, Shrestha added.
A painting of Bajrabarahi Temple painted by one of the pioneer Nepali artists, late Tej Bahadur Chitrakar made in the year 2027 BS is the attraction of the exhibition.
Similarly, two paintings of late Lain Singh Bangdel on oil canvas helped understand the true essence of Nepali art.
A total of 60 artworks by 33 veteran artists are on display.
The seven- day art exhibition which began from May 31 will conclude on Monday.
