Jamunaha border to be sealed off for 72 hrs for local poll

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, May 1: The border points of Nepal and India located in Banke and Bardiya districts will be sealed off for 72 hours for the local level election slated for May 30 in Nepal.

A meeting of the security officers of the two countries held at Katarniya in India decided to this effect in view of the possible security threat owing to the open border during the election period, informed Surya Bahadur Khatri, Chief District Officer of Banke.

The meeting also decided to ban the sale of liquors around the border area in both countries for 48 hours prior to the election and also hold joint security patrol in the border area.

Security officials of the bordering districts of the two neighbouring countries were present in the meeting which also dwelt on ways to further strictly implement the ban on illegal transportation of wild animals, woods, human trafficking and drugs.
