Kathmandu, April 28 (RSS): Prime Minister and Nepali Congress
President Sher Bahadur Deuba has underlined the need of making democratic
candidates and those standing for changes victorious in the upcoming local
elections and strengthen the foundation of democracy right from the local
level.
In an appeal today, the President
of the major ruling party spoke about the need of defeating anti-constitutional and
anti-democratic forces by the election and further consolidate the base of
democracy.
As the leader insists, it is high time to take significant efforts for promoting the federal democratic
republic system in the country, for protecting the Constitution and for
safeguarding the democracy by conquering efforts to weaken democracy and the
Constitution.
Through the appeal, the NC
President said the party mechanism from the province to local levels has been
instructed to implement the decision of government coalition partners to forge
an electoral alliance for the May 13 local elections. It may be noted that five
ruling parties NC, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata
Samajbadi Party Nepal and Rashtriya Janamorcha have already agreed to have an
electoral alliance as per the local need in the election.
President Deuba requested all
members of the party to be active in a campaign to make the party's authorized
candidates as well as alliance candidates victorious, appealing to the candidates
of the NC, who have filed rebel candidacies, to withdraw their candidacy within
the slated time.
The NC President mentioned that
voters across the nation are very excited and active in electing
representatives at local levels and handing over the leadership of local-level
government for the next five years.
