By Belina Thapa, Lamjung, May 14: Nepali Congress candidate Konjo Tenjing Lama has been elected to the post of Narpabhumi Rural Municipality in Manang district.He secured 158 votes, 47 more than his rival, independent candidate Krishna Bahadur Lama who got 111 votes.According to the office of the chief election officer, as there was a single candidate for vice-chair of this local level, UML's Mengmar Funcho Lama has been elected unopposed to the post of vice-chair. Of 448 total voters, 304 had cast their votes in Narpabhumi RM, which calculated to 67.85 voter turnout.
By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 13: Voting in the local level election has been stalled at 41 polling centers of 26 polling stations across the country.According to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliaya, voting could not successful in 41 polling centers of 26 polling stations and it had to be suspended.Chief election officer can opt for re-election in the polling stations where voting has been suspended today, by informing the Commission and on the basis of the election/returning officer. EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel said that the voting went peacefully in overall although dispute erupted in some places due to the political parties and the candidates.
PM Deuba extended special thanks to the Election Commission for conducting the poll in a peaceful, free, fair, impartial and enabling manner.
