According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 2:40 PM in the district. Within less than half an hour, at 3:06 PM, a 6.3 magnitude quake was reported in Chainpur, Bajhang. Narayan Pande, Chief District Officer, Bajhang, said that the aftershock is being felt now also. Details of any physical loss and fatalities have not been received so far.“Road has been blocked after a dry landslide fell over Kachali stream along Jai Prithvi Highway. The land where we are standing is jolting. We are prepared for the rescue,” he said. Pictures of the earthquake-affected homes are being received.
