Next NEFTA Film in the US
By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, Dec. 5 The 11th edition of the NEFTA Film Award will be held in Texas, USA. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the organiser-- Nepal Film Technical Association informed that the award ceremony will be held in the USA on May 27 next year. The NEFTA Film Award was previously held in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Qatar and Dubai. President of Nepal Film Technical Association Pushkar Lama said that the purpose of organising the award ceremony abroad was to expand the international market of the Nepali films. NEFTA is collaborating with organisations like Fame Nepal, Aryan Films and US Khabar to hold the event. It is stated in the statement that the award also intended to strengthen the 75-year-old diplomatic relationship between Nepal and the USA, establish the award as a bridge between the two countries, explore the Nepali film culture and market in the diaspora and develop Nepal as shooting destination for the American films. Lama informed that coordination with Non-Resident Nepal Association and the Diplomatic Mission will be done for organising the award. NEFTA is considered to be one of the prestigious awards organised by the private sector in Nepal. The award could not be held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the fifth edition of the award, films released within 2079 BS will compete. The jury is scheduled to watch the film in April to select films for awards in 42 different categories.
