At least 10 persons are feared dead in a massive cloudburst that struck a remote village en route to the Machail Mata yatra in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, officials said. The cloudburst hit Chasoti, the last motorable village en route to the shrine. The annual yatra to the shrine has been suspended following the incident as authorities mobilised all resources and are heading to the scene to conduct a massive rescue and relief operation, the officials said.

A cloudburst led to flash floods in the high altitude villages of Dharali in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district in India on Tuesday, with several houses being damaged or swept away in the raging waters, according to people in the area. The cloudburst took place in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, leading to the devastating floods, locals said.
Indian airlines have reported 183 technical faults in their planes this year, while there was a nearly 6 per cent decline in technical glitches last year compared to 2023, the government said on Monday. Thirteen others were also injured in the fire that broke out on Tuesday evening, a senior police officer said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the fire incident, and announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased.
After a gap of five years, India on Saturday announced the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from June. The resumption of the Yatra is seen as a part of efforts by India and China to improve ties after the two countries completed the disengagement of troops at the two remaining friction points of Demchok and Depsang under a pact sealed in October last year.
