Kathmandu, April 20: The Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project-5 with a capacity of 110 megawatts is to be built in Dudhkoshi river in Solukhumbu district.
As proposed by the developer, the project would be located at wards no. 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 in Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality.
The Electricity Development Department has already granted approval to the developer, Independent Power Company Nepal, to make this the semi-reservoir based project.
The environmental impact assessment report of the project for the run-of-the-river project was already completed but the supplementary report on environmental impact assessment for the semi-reservoir based project is also being prepared, it is said.
For the project advancement, more than 2,450 trees from a community forest should be cleared.
Once completed, the power generated from the project would be connected to the New Khimti Substation at Devitar, Dolakha.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be more than Rs 19 billion and would be completed in five years, the developer said. (RSS)
