Tikapur, April 4: Tikapur Municipality in Kailali has started providing services to the senior citizens and people living with disabilities at their doorsteps.

The municipality has started mobilizing two health workers in each ward to conduct health check-ups at home for senior citizens above 70, people living with disabilities, and differently-able individuals living in the community.

Under the service, health workers have begun conducting home visits to perform health assessments, disease mapping, treatment and counseling, and provide necessary medicines for free, informed Tikapur Municipality's Public Health Inspector Kewal Singh Sarki.

According to him, a calendar has been prepared whereby municipal health workers will provide home-to-home services in the community for senior citizens, disable, and handicapped individuals four days each month under the home-based health service programme.

"Home visits have started for checking and monitoring chronic diseases, high blood pressure, and diabetes," said Public Health Inspector Sarki, "Providing counseling services on nutrition, hygiene, and lifestyle has also begun". (RSS)
