Ninety-nine physical structures damaged in Karnali

By Our Correspondent,Surkhet, Sept. 19: Ninety-seven physical structures in Karnali have been damaged during the Gen-Z movement. According to the Karnali Provincial Police Office in Surkhet, both private and government vehicles, as well as physical structures, have sustained significant damage.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kedar Khanal, spokesperson for the Provincial Police Office, stated that the damage to vehicles and physical structures has varied, with some suffering complete, partial, or minor damage. He reported that 14 government two-wheelers have been completely destroyed, while five have sustained partial damage. Six four-wheelers have been completely damaged, and 13 have been partially damaged. Additionally, four private vehicles have been completely damaged, with one suffering partial damage.

In terms of physical structures, one federal government office building has sustained complete damage, with two others partially damaged. At the provincial level, four buildings have been completely damaged and three partially damaged. Seven district and local government buildings have been completely damaged, while ten have sustained partial damage. Four private structures have been completely damaged, and another four have been partially damaged.

Police have reported damage to physical structures in three districts of Karnali, including Surkhet, Jumla, and Mugu. Surkhet has experienced the greatest extent of damage.

In Surkhet, 32 government vehicles were set on fire during the movement. According to the District Police Office in Surkhet, the 32 vehicles, comprising both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, belong to ten different government offices. DSP Mohan Jung Budathapa, Information Officer at the District Police Office, stated that efforts to gather details from additional government offices are ongoing.

The police report confirms that the arson has resulted in the destruction of 32 vehicles, including 15 four-wheelers and 17 two-wheelers. DSP Budathapa added that, so far, data from only 10 government offices has been collected, with efforts to obtain information from other offices still underway.
