17 soldiers injured in truck accident near Churiyamai

By Anil Parajuli,Hetauda, Sept. 18: Seventeen Nepali Army personnel injured in a truck accident along the East-West Highway near Churiyamai, on the border of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–15 in Makawanpur and Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City–22 in Bara, are undergoing treatment at Hetauda Hospital and Chhauni-based Army Hospital in Kathmandu.

According to Bagmati Province Police Office Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Dhakendra Khatiwada, 11 of the injured are being treated at Hetauda Hospital. 

Among them are Lieutenant Harsh Bikram Adhikari, soldiers Rajendra Prasad Bhattarai, Kshetra Bahadur Darlami, Min Bahadur Gurung, Nar Singh Tharu, Pradeep Chaudhary, and privates Dinesh Nyaupane, Sanjay Raidas, Ankit Wali, Basanta Jainsi, and Prakash Sahi. 

They sustained injuries to their legs, heads, backs, arms, chests, and faces. Of these, three remain under treatment while eight have been discharged.

Six others, who sustained serious head injuries, were airlifted from Suparitar Barracks to Kathmandu by helicopter. 

They are being treated at Chhauni Army Hospital. The injured undergoing treatment there are Sunil Chaudhary, Tikaram Kandel, Rohit Pandey, Bharat Bika, Chakra Bohara, and Hiramani Majhi, police confirmed.

The truck that met with the accident has been recovered from the site. The vehicle, carrying 22 army personnel from No. 2 Rajdal Battalion, Tanahun towards Dhanusha under the command of Lt. Col. Adhikari, was one of four army trucks on the move. 

The truck (registration no. Lu 1 Ga 280) veered off the bridge at Churiyamai, fell approximately 12 feet into a stream, and met with the accident.
