Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Lekhi said that strengthening the physical infrastructure of the training centre would directly contribute to enhancing the province’s security system.

Minister Lekhi, who is also the government spokesperson, expressed confidence that the new facility would play a vital role in preparing competent police personnel to tackle future security challenges.

Constructed for Rs. 32.322 million, the building has the capacity to accommodate 200 trainees simultaneously.

The inauguration event was attended by Saptari Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, Madhes Province Police Chief DIG Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Training Centre Chief SSP Bhim Bahadur Dahal, and officials from government agencies, political representatives, and other stakeholders.

During the same programme, Minister Lekhi announced that the provincial government was preparing to introduce a Communications Act aimed at streamlining the media sector. Highlighting the growing trend of baseless reporting, fake news, and blackmail in journalism, he said the Act would promote ethical journalism while discouraging corruption and character assassination in the media.

“Some media personnel have increasingly been publishing false information and using journalism as a tool for intimidation. Legal measures are essential to curb such practices,” Minister Lekhi said, stressing that journalism must adhere strictly to professional codes of ethics.
