blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 19: ‘Colour of Tea’, a short film directed by journalist Raj Sargam, has been awarded at the 12th International Documentary Festival Ierapetra And Awards held in Greece recently.

On August 13, the festival organisers officially published the list of awarded films on their website, stating, “The Second Festival Prize goes to the international short film Colour of Tea, written and directed by Raj Sargam (Nepal).”

The 12th International Documentary Festival Ierapetra And Awards in Greece promoted the screening of outstanding long and short documentaries and short films from around the world in its competitive section.

‘Colour of Tea’ tells the story of Dalit indigenous people of Madhes, who voice a silent resistance against the micro-aggressions and violence that perpetuate caste-based discrimination.

The film by director Sargam had earlier, in July, won the top prize at the Korea Gyeonggi International Film Festival for Sustainable Development Goals 2025. Likewise, it succeeded in reaching the quarterfinals at the upcoming Kobani International Film Festival in Germany scheduled for this September.

Moreover, it was officially selected at MOD Fest: Minority Open Days 2025 held in Podgorica, Montenegro.
