By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 13: Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has urged the newly appointed officials of the Devghat Area Development Committee to sincerely fulfill their responsibilities while presenting them with appointment letters.

Minister Pandey said that the seven-member committee includes two women, reflecting an inclusive structure. He stated that the activities of the Gurukul in the Devghat area keep it dynamic and maintain the region’s vibrancy.

He said, “If the Gurukul is removed, there will be emptiness here. Therefore, an environment must be created to bring knowledge, awareness, and revival of oriental philosophy to the new generation.”

Minister Pandey mentioned the possibility of organising grand religious and cultural events like the Maha Kumbh at Devghat, suggesting collaboration with the Bagmati and Gandaki provincial governments as well as attracting the private sector to seize these opportunities.

Expressing his belief that the tourism and cultural significance of Devghat, situated in geographically and socially advantageous regions of Chitwan, Nawalpur, and Tanahun, has great growth potential, he expected the committee officials to perform exemplary work.

“The ministry is always ready to provide policy and legal support. This is not a position of benefit; it is a position of responsibility," said Minister Pandey.

Secretary Hari Mainali of the Ministry expressed his belief that Devghat, conveniently located near the capital, will make further progress in the tourism and cultural sectors.

The newly appointed officials include Chairman Ishwari Raj Laudari and members Chandramitra Pandit (Chitwan), Laxman Subedi (Chitwan), Shalikram Sapkota (Nawalparasi), Yu Kumari Sharma (Nawalparasi), Ramhari Pudasaini (Tanahun), and Indramaya Thapa Magar (Tanahun).
