BY SIRAJ KHAN,Nepalgunj, Aug,1: Brinoz Ear Health Hospital, located in Phultekra, Nepalgunj, has provided ear treatment services to more than 7,600 patients over the past year, covering three provinces of western Nepal.
According to Bhishan Kumar Chaudhary, the hospital’s outreach in-charge, 7,656 individuals received treatment under outreach programmes conducted at 21 different locations across Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces during the fiscal year 2024/25.
The outreach programmes were conducted through mobile health camps focusing on ear health, with a significant majority of patients being female. While 3,339 men received treatment, the number of female patients was 4,317, said Chaudhary.
In terms of diagnosis, 962 patients were found with ear infections, 911 with earwax blockages, 138 with fluid accumulation inside the ear, 249 with fungal infections, and 4,913 with various other ear-related issues, all of whom received appropriate treatment during the camps.
Chaudhary further informed that 335 patients visited the hospital for follow-up treatment, out of which 53 underwent surgery and 64 were provided with hearing aids.
“All patients attending the camps received free check-ups and medications,” he said. “These services have been a major relief for people in remote rural areas.”
In addition to treatment, the hospital has been organising outreach camps to raise awareness about ear health among the general public in the rural areas.
Run with support from the community, Brinoz Ear Hospital is regarded as a leading institution for ear treatment in the region. According to hospital manager Chet Narayan Chaudhary, not only Nepali citizens but also a significant number of patients from neighbouring India visit the hospital for treatment.
“This hospital is known as the only dedicated ear treatment centre in the region,” he said. “It is affordability and quality services that have increased trust in Brinoz, attracting patients from even far-off places.”
