By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, July 24: Keeping in mind the significance of the month of Shrawan, the ongoing ‘Bharosa Mehendi Festival’ in Nepalgunj has witnessed an overwhelming participation of women.

According to the organisers, around 400 women have participated in the week-long festival, which began on Thursday.

Organised by Bharosa Multipurpose Cooperative Limited, the event has been launched with the appealing slogan, ‘Let’s celebrate Shrawan adorned with Mehendi.’

Tej Bahadur Rawal, Chief Executive Officer of Bharosa Cooperative, said that the festival has been organised to promote cultural enthusiasm and cooperative education through mehendi, which is considered a symbol of social beauty.

He further added that mehendi, which is culturally associated with the month of Shrawan, is also becoming a symbol of women’s empowerment.

Along with mehendi and green bangles campaigns, the festival also features cultural performances.

She added that the festival also aims to spread awareness about the cultural and religious importance of the month of Shrawan.
