blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 21: A horror, fantasy, and folklore film festival is set to be organised in Nepal for the first time.

According to festival director Rasik Pathak, the festival is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from October 31 to November 2.

Films of these genres are rarely made in Nepal, and audience hardly get the opportunity to watch them, said Pathak.

Therefore, the Nepal Film and Cultural Academy has initiated this festival with the aim of promoting horror genre films within the country.

He believes the festival will help create a more favourable environment for the production of these types of films in Nepal.

The event is being organised by the Nepal Film and Cultural Academy in collaboration with the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF), Pathak added.

The main objective of the festival is to promote horror, fantasy, and folklore-based films in Nepal and to help build an audience for these genres.

The festival will feature only international competition categories.

According to the organisers, awards will be given for Best Feature Film, Short Film, South Asian Film, and Youth Film at the festival.

Pathak also informed that film submissions are now open.
