By Thakur Prasad Acharya,Myagdi, June 15: The Ravan Park, under construction at the religious site of Pulastya Pulhashram in Beni, has reached its final stage.

To develop this area located at Beni Municipality-5 as a religious site, Beni Municipality began construction of the Ravan Park three years ago.

According to Mayor Surat KC, 95 per cent of the infrastructure construction in the park, which includes a statue of Ravan, has been completed.

The project is being constructed with a cost-sharing arrangement of 70 per cent from the Ministry of Tourism and 30 per cent from Beni Municipality, amounting to a total of Rs. 17 million.

He informed that all the necessary infrastructure for the park has already been constructed. “The feet and the upper body of Ravan’s statue have already been constructed. The head remains to be completed.”

“The remaining work will proceed once the full text of the court’s decision, regarding the issue of installing the statue in the park, is issued,” he added.

Ward chairperson of Beni Municipality-5, Govinda Baniya, expressed that the construction of the Ravan Park is believed to support the promotion of religious tourism in this area, which holds religious importance as mentioned in the sacred Hindu scripture Srimad Bhagavat Mahapurana.

Likewise, Pulastya Pulhashram sits at an elevation of 1503 metres above sea level, northwest of Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi.

It is known as the meditative site (Tapobhumi) of the ancient sage Pulastya. Near the Pulastya Temple, there is also a stone believed to be the burial site of Ravan’s navel.
