Kathmandu, April 2: President Ramchandra Paudel has called on Radio Nepal, transformed into Public Service Broadcasting this year, to become 'voice of voiceless' and active in the path of institutionalizing federal democratic republic system adopted by the country.
In a message of best wishes today
on the 75th anniversary of the Radio Nepal, President Paudel asked the Radio
Nepal to ensure people's right to information as well as to work effectively as
per the sentiments and objectives of public service broadcasting.
Requesting to carryout activities
to strengthen democracy based on pluralism, he said the development of internet
and information technology has brought significant change in content of news
and dissemination of factual information.
"Radio Nepal has made a
significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of the inclusive
character of Nepali society by broadcasting news in 25 languages and programmes
in 24 languages', reads the message.
"I believe that media
including Radio Nepal will work in a more responsible, accountable and
trustworthy manner in their services, quality and news presentation using
capable human resources and modern technology at maximum", shared
