By Arjun Kafle, Syangja, Jan 17: Harinas Rural Municipality in Syangja district has decided to provide social allowances to the single man.
The decision of the local level government seems to fill the gap that the federal government provides social security allowances to single women, the senior citizens, dalit and disabled, while not categorically to the single man.
The Rural Municipality made the decision by endorsing a working procedures for providing allowances to the single man aged 60 or above, who is not in government employment and does not get services from national or international agencies, whose wife has died or has got divorced and has not remarried.
The procedures was endorsed in the 16th convention of the
Rural Municipality.
The convention also endorsed local legislation for branding local liquor
so as to create local employment.
Khim Narayan Manandhar, Chairman of the Harinas Rural Municipality,
shared that the ward offices will provide a sum of Rs. 1 thousand to the single
man as per the procedures endorsed, which will make it easy for single man to
run their life.
