Kathmandu, Dec 17: The Ministry of Forests and Environment has urged one and all to refrain from burning waste containing plastic and agricultural remains bearing in mind its negative impact on environment.
Issuing a notice today, the Ministry has urged all the stakeholders concerned to ensure regular maintenance of motor vehicles, promote the use of clean energy in industries/factories and kitchen and to adequately control smoke and dust pollution from roads and construction works.
The increasing level of air pollution in the Terai region and the Kathmandu Valley for a couple of weeks has prompted the Ministry to issue this appeal.
Industries, factories, motor vehicles, wildfires, burning of agricultural remains and the dust from roads and construction works are major causes of air pollution.
The Ministry also reminded all that particularly children, aged population, heart patients, people with respiratory issues and expectant mothers are vulnerable to the impact of air pollution. (RSS)
