Eight dead, four injured in Rautahat Scorpio accident

By Yadavraj Puri, Rautahat, Dec.10: Eight people including the driver died and four others sustained injuries when a Scorpio ( Ba 16 Cha 3162 met with an accident in the Lamaha Dhansar road section under the East-West Highway of Rautahat district on Tuesday morning.

The Scorpio was carrying devotees returning to Siraha from the Gadhimai fair in the Bara district and met with an accident at 7:30 AM today. 

The Gadhimai festival is celebrated every five years in Bariyarpur, Bara district. 

The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Larubati Debi Mahara, 50-year-old Ram Kumar Mahara, 30-year-old Urmila Mahara, 62-year-old Fulmanti Debi Chamar, 30-year-old Sakuntala Debi Mahara, 55-year-old Mahangi Debi Mahara, 60-year-old Ram Kumari Debi Mahara and a 40-year-old Scorpio driver Shri Kumar Yadav. 

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Area Police Office Chandranigahpur, Rautahat, Raj Kumar Rai, four injured are receiving treatment at a local health institution. 

DSP Rajkumar Rai of the area police office Chandranigahapur informed that the four people injured in the accident are being treated at a local health institution.

 According to the police, the Scorpio crashed into a tree on the east-west highway at Chandranigahpur-4, Rautahat.
