Jumla, Dec 7: The fiber-optic internet service is gaining popularity in Jumla district. There are as many as 1,000 customers in Khalanga of Jumla district currently benefitting from it since it was first launched on May 24 this year.
The fiber internet service provided by the Nepal Telecom, which is only available in Khalanga market at present, is being expanded to the remaining seven local levels in this high-altitude district, according to the Nepal Telecom's Jumla branch.
Jumla branch chief Subash Shah shared that the previous internet services in both public officers and private residences were upgraded with high-speed and high-quality.
Chandannath municipality in the district has 1,000 customers availing the high-speed internet currently.
Shah said that there was a high demand for the Nepal Telecom's fiber internet in the district which is more affordable in comparison to those from private service provider companies.
Besides internet, the service package of the Telecom also includes telephone and television services, further making the Nepal Telecom's fiber net more popular among the customers for its comprehensive service.
The service charge for the internet, however, varies depending on the internet speed, he added.
The 4G service, which was first launched in the district in the beginning of 2020, has been expanded in 20 places in the 8 local levels while 2G service is available in seven places, according to the Nepal Telecom's Jumla branch. (RSS)
