By Sujan Kafle, Charikot, Dec 2: CPN (UML) candidate Uma Magar Sherpa has been elected vice-chair of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality with 2,805 votes defeating her closest rival Nimaleki Sherpa of CPN (Maoist Center) who secured 2,600 votes.
According to the office of the chief election officer of Dolakha, Nepali Congress candidate Pasdiki Sherpa got 1,727 votes and stood the third.
There were 16 candidates in the fray, 7 from political parties and 9 independent candidates.
The by-election was held on Sunday after vice-chair Shyam Sundar Tamang who had from NC died in June.
