By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 26: The country is experiencing a steady drop in temperatures over the week. Most people in mountainous areas have already been forced to make fire to keep themselves warm.
Even in Kathmandu, the denizens have experienced cold. It is evident from the fact that most people are seen donning warm jackets to escape the cold mostly in the morning and evening. However, the sunshine is keeping them warm in the daytime.
Even though there is no such weather system right now, the hilly regions of the country are experiencing cloud conditions, while the rest of the areas have predominantly clear weather.
People in urban and rural areas are feeling the sharp sting of winter and health officials have started to caution against cold-related illnesseses.
On Monday, the temperature in Jumla was recorded at minus 4.7 degrees Celsius. Likewise, the temperature in Dipayal dipped to 9.4 degrees Celsius and in Dadeldhura it fell to 5.9 degrees Celsius.
Even in Kathmandu, the temperature is gradually falling and it was recorded at 8.0 degrees Celsius on Monday. On Sunday, it was 8.2 degrees Celsius. In Koshi Province, the minimum temperature was measured at 7.8 degrees Celsius.
According to Min Kumar Aryal, a senior meteorologist at the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces on Tuesday evening.
“The Tarai areas, from east to west, will experience cloudy conditions in the morning and the Kathmandu Valley will also witness similar cloud cover,” he said.
