Call to join hands to tackle impacts caused by snowmelt, sea level rise

Baku (Azerbaijan), Nov. 18: Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has stressed for partnership to mitigate the climate challenges caused by the melting of the snow in the Himalayas and the sea level rise.     

During a meeting with Selwin Hart, the Special Adviser and Assistant Secretary-General for Climate Action at United Nations, in Baku of Azerbaijan on Monday, Minister Shahi Thakuri said that such issues should be resolved by collaboration.     

The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is under way in Baku, Azerbaijan since November 11 and Minister Shahi Thakuri is here in this connection.     

Minister Shahi Thakuri stated that all the member states should be united and committed to address the climate crises.     

Likewise, he thanked the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, stating that his visit to Nepal last year helped present Nepal's climate change issues at the international level.(RSS)
