blog

By Thakur Prasad Acharya,Myagdi, Oct. 26: It is currently peak season for Mustang tourism, with both domestic and international tourists crowding the area. Dhumba Lake, located near Jomsom, has become a major attraction for visitors.

Every day, hundreds of tourists are drawn to witness the beauty of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountain ranges. Situated in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality - 5, Dhumba Lake is just a 15-minute journey from Jomsom Bazaar.

Physical infrastructure has been developed around the lake and restaurants have been set up to cater to tourists. The lake, with its heart-like shape and blue hue, is especially popular among young visitors who come to make TikTok videos, take photos and record videos.

Pramod Raj Regmi, a visitor from Parbat, described Dhumba Lake as a treasure of natural beauty.

Chairperson of Ward No. 5 of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality Pradeep Thakali said that most tourists visiting Upper Mustang, Korala and Muktinath also visit Dhumba Lake. He said that recent road expansion from Jomsom to Thini via Dhumba Lake, along with tourism infrastructure development around the lake, has led to an increase in visitor numbers over the past few years.

Dhumba Lake, situated at an altitude of about 3,000 metres, measures 160 metres in length and 130 metres in width, with a depth of 10 metres. It takes about 15 minutes to walk around the lake.
