Police seize 200 kilos of cat fish illegibly brought from India

By Hari Koirala, Urlabari, Oct. 21: The Nepal Police have confiscated 200 kilos of walking catfish (Clarias batrachus), popularly known as Mungri fish that was being illegally brought to Nepal from India at the Tharu Chowk Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-2, Morang. 

A joint team of the Sub-Inspector of Police of Ramailo Police Station Mohan Kumar Pradhan and the Police In charge of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality Yuva Raj Bhujel brought two motorbikes carrying illegally transported fish under control. 

According to the Police officer in charge of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality, Yuva Raj Bhujel, both people who were carrying fish on a motorcycle flew away from the scene. 

Nepal has banned the buying and selling of Mungri fish. The two motorcycles with registration numbers (BR 38 Pa 9934) and (Me 2 Pa 4942) have been taken control by the police. 

The police and city police buried fish kept in four 50 kg utensils that were being illegally brought on two motorcycles to Nepal from India behind Kanepokhari Rural Municipality.
