Kalidah checkpoint comes into operation

Lumbini, Sept 11: An integrated check point has been brought into operation at the Kalidah border, the closest transit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.     

The check point has been brought into operation at Kalidah-13 in Rupandehi's Lumbini Cultural Municipality targeting tourists coming to visit Lumbini.     

Armed police force has been given the main responsibility to oversee the checkpoint operated by District Administration Office, Rupandehi.     

According to the chief district officer Ganesh Aryal, the integrated checkpoint has brought into operation as there were several grievances that the tourists were screen and inquired at various points.     

He added that a joint team of customs office, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Traffic Police issue a card to the tourists after checking them, which will allow them to visit the district without further hassles.     

However, security personnel can carry out a check if find anything suspicious, he added.(RSS)
