Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba

Kathmandu, Sept. 9: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that NC should be made further stronger by fully applying the ideology, ideals and thoughts of the party's founding leader BP Koirala.

At a literary programme organized by the Kathmandu chapter of Nepali Writers' Association here Monday on the occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of the country's first people's elected Prime Minister BP Koirala, Deuba asked the NC leaders, activists and well-wishers to take inspiration from the struggles of BP made for the cause of democracy.

Likewise, Deuba instructed the party leaders and cadres to work on a campaign to publicize the contributions of BP made for the establishment of democracy, Nepal's sustainable development and the literary field to make the NC a robust force.

Deuba viewed that BP policy of national unity and reconciliation was equally relevant even today and shared that the NC was coordinating for the conciliation among all political forces.

Likewise, NC general secretary Bishow Prakash Sharma said that BP was established in Nepali politics as a propounder of peace, cooperation and reconciliation.

Followers of Nepali Congress and other ideologies too have recalled BP's role in taking the country to the path of the democratic system and BP made significant contributions to the existing parliamentary democratic system, general secretary Sharma added.

Also speaking at the programme, Professor Krishna Khanal urged the Nepali Congress leaders and cadres to remain cautious by quoting BP's statement that the real cadres of the party should wage a revolution again as the creamy layers could prevail in the politics.

Khanal stated that BP worked as a symbol of consciousness and argued that the NC at present was away from the political cultures set by BP.(RSS)
