Paddy plantation reaches final stage in Koshi Province

By Our Correspondent,Barahakshetra, Aug. 4: Paddy plantation has reached the final stage in Koshi Province. By the end of July, paddy plantation has completed in 95 per cent of the paddy fields of Koshi Province.

According to Purnamaya Gurung, Information Officer and Horticulture Development Officer of Directorate of Agricultural Development, Koshi Province, paddy plantation has completed in 95 per cent of the total paddy cultivated land in the province.

Paddy has been planted in most places of Koshi Province. 

According to the Directorate, paddy plantation had been done in 262,604 hectares of land out of total paddy fields of 276,386 hectares by the end of July this year.

Gurung said that paddy plantation had been completed in 96 per cent in Tarai districts of Koshi Province, 91 per cent in mid-hill districts and 92.71 per cent in mountain districts.

In Taplejung, paddy plantation has been done in 96.5 per cent of the total paddy fields of 5,666 hectares thanks to regular rains.

Similarly, paddy plantation has been completed in 90 per cent of the total paddy cultivated land of 8,492 hectares in Sankhuwasabha by end of July this year.

Likewise, paddy plantation has been done in 93.99 per cent in Solukhumbu, 88 per cent in Panchthar and 95 per cent in Ilam districts during the review period.

In Bhojpur, where paddy is cultivated in an area of 12,500 hectares, 90 per cent of the area has been planted, according to the Directorate.

Similarly, in Terhathum district, 6,615 hectares of land is being cultivated, but only 80 per cent of it has been planted by end of July. 

Dhankuta, where rice is cultivated in an area of 4,938 hectares, 81 per cent of the area has been planted by end July this year.

The paddy cultivation has been done in 96 per cent of the total paddy cultivated land of 13,380 hectares in Udayapur due to the timely rainfall.

In Okhaldhunga district, 92 per cent of the area of 3,803 hectares has been cultivated.

The paddy has been planted in most places in Jhapa, a Tarai district of Koshi Province. About 96.33 per cent of the area has been planted in the district where rice is grown in an area of 75,459 hectares. 

Paddy has already been planted in most places in Morang district where paddy plantation has been completed in 98 per cent of total paddy fields of 69,817 hectares.

Similarly, paddy has been planted in 95 per cent of the total paddy cultivated lands of 48,900 hectares in Sunsari district. Paddy is cultivated in 826,646 hectares of land in Koshi Province.
