Gandaki University to introduce AI course

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Lekhnath, July 19:The Gandaki University, operated by the Gandaki Provincial Government, is all set to begin teaching artificial intelligence (AI) from this academic year. 

According to the university, it has initiated for technology-friendly higher education in the modern era. It announced an educational programme in the Master of Information Technology in Artificial Intelligence (MITAI). 

Dean Kapil Adhikari informed that MITAI course will begin from September this year. He said that AI will play a significant role in improving Nepal’s economy.

Gandaki Provincial Minister for Social Development and Health Bindu Kumar Thapa urged the university to deliver education meeting the market demand.

 He said, “Technology-friendly education is a necessity today. Let’s focus on producing an educated workforce that meets market needs.”

The university has established its own infrastructure in Pokhara-32, where it offers IT and pharmacy courses. It has also opened an innovation centre.

Chancellor Ganeshman Gurung said that they would also advance IT park in the university. He urged the provincial government to be generous in providing grant to the university. 

The MITAI programme will consists of four semesters over two years. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in science and technology can enrol on the programme. For the first semester, 20 students will be selected through an entrance examination.
