By A Staff Reporter,Madhyapur Thimi, July 9: Sanjhya Sahitya presented three poets in its monthly serial which was held at the Beanz and Bitez Cafe in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
Nandu Upreti from Ilam, Radhika Kalpit from Baglung and Baburam Shrestha 'Yatri' from Sindhuli presented their best-known poems amid the presence of selected literary figures.
Upreti presented five hilarious poems including Pokharima Dubeko Aakash (The Sky Drowned Into A Pond), Meri Premika (My Sweetheart), Mero Pyaro Kathmandu (My Lovely Kathmandu), Makuraki Aama (The Mother Of Spiders) and Aama Ra Ma (My Mother And Me). Upreti's poems were filled with romanticism, imaginative spontaneity and deep sentiments
of mothers.
A teacher of English literature, Kalpit's poems spoke about the untold love story, sentiments and sensibilities of women. Her poems depicted the relationship of a woman with her father, father-in-law, husband and son. She recited Sakdina Ma Kavita Lekhna (I Cannot Write Poems), Pita, Pati Ra Putra (Father, Husband And Son), Swet Sambedana (The White Sentiment), Malai Timro Mauntasita Dar Thiyo (I Was Afraid of Your Silence) and Sidharthale Nachineki Yashodhara (Yashodhara not Recognised by Siddhartha). The audience went ga-ga over her love poems.
Similarly, Yatri presented poems including Chhamkali Rokaya, Eklo (The Lonely), Deshko Anuhar (The Face Of My Country), Kagaj (The Paper) and Priya Atit (My Lovely Past). His poems sketched the class discrimination, poverty of the Karnali people, political as well as social anomalies and struggle of the oppressed.
The programme was hosted in association with Chakla Falcha, The Falcha For Creative Discussions, De Beanz And Bitez Cafe.
Harihar Timilsina, a member of Sanjhya, informed that the motive of the group was to promote the budding poets and honour the established ones. According to him, there will be a Sanjhya serial at De Beans and Bitez Cafe in New Thimi on the third Saturday of every month. “We organise some special poetry events now
and then,” he announced.
“We generally present three poets of three generations every month. Doing that we follow the rule of inclusiveness,” Ram Gopal Ashutosh, another member of the group, said. Based in Bhaktapur, the group had begun the campaign since November 2014. Activities of the group were postponed for some years due to the
COVID-19 pandemic.
“Sanjhya has been running in its full swing for nine months again,” Nabin Prakash Shrestha, another member of the group, said.
