Indian national arrested with 20Mln fake Nepali currency

By Jaykrishna Yadav, Inaruwa, Feb 12: An Indian national has been arrested with a hefty sum of counterfeit Nepali currency during traffic checking along the East-West Highway at Inaruwa Municipality-4, Sunsari district

A sizable sum containing fake Nepali rupee notes near the bridge of Sunsari river along the East-west highway was recovered by the Traffic Police in a white-colored Mahendra Scorpio jeep with the registration number (BR11X3429) during a transportation check. A resident of Supaul district Bihar Mohamed Sayyid Safi called 'Chhotu' was arrested by the Traffic Police. 

A total of 18,200,000 rupees of fake currencies in a sack inside a black bag was recovered in the white Mahendra Scorpio which was heading from west to east and being driven by the accused himself. 

The recovered Indian car, counterfeit Nepali currency notes and the Indian National were made public in a press conference held by the District Police Office, Sunsari, on Monday. 

Bipin Regmi, Superintendent of Police (SP), said that a large sum of fake Nepali currency was recovered at the dicky of the car in a regular transportation check by the traffic police after being suspicious of the situation. 

Investigation into the matter is underway.
