12 injured in jackal attack in Rautahat

By Yadav Raj Puri, Rautahat, Jan 20: As many as 12 people have sustained injuries by the attack of a group of jackals at Gadhimai Municipality-12, Rautahat. 

12 people including a nine-year-old of Dharani tol, had gone for a grass in the farmland where they got bitten by a pack of jackals. Of the 12 injured, two women are receiving treatment at the National Medical College, Birgunj.  

Shyam Prasad Yadav, ward chair of Gadhimai Municipality-12, said that five/six foxes had entered a nearby sugarcane field and attacked 12 people. The injured have been identified as nine-year-old Shravan Kumar, 15-year-old Manisha Khatun, 27-year-old Ram Biyan Baitha, 30-year-old Bina Devi, 35-year Dukhiya Devi, 40-year-old Zay Bul Khatun, 55-year-old Usha Devi, 72-year-old Sikilawa Devi, 60-year-old Tetari Khatun, 70-year-old Jayal Mukhiya. 

From the attack of jackals, Zay Bul and Tetari, have suffered in the nose and mouth, and have been referred to National Medical College, Birgunj, after receiving preliminary treatment at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, on Friday night. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Eliza Giri, District Police Office, said that both injured are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. 

Medical Superintendent Krishna Sah said that all have received a vaccine against rabies at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, and have returned home. 

 “All of them need to re-visit hospital for further vaccination,” He said.
