By Bishnu Pandeya, Kathmandu, Sept 28: The Department of Roads under the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry has said that roads that were damaged by the rain will be repaired at the earliest.

With the beginning of the festive season, the department fills potholes and repairs roads. But this year road repairment is yet to begin due to the continuation of rain, said Mechanical Branch Deputy Director General Bhuwan Adhikari.

He said that road maintenance would be started once the rain stopped.

He also said that some road maintenance will be completed by using the department's instruments and some complex road damage will be repaired through a tender process.

"Continuing the trend of repairing roads with the nearing of festivals we've road maintenance plans this year too. As the monsoon season is underway we will start maintenance after the rainy season ends," he said.

According to him, 242 mechanical instruments are on standby.
