Veterinarians role pivotal in ensuring animal and public health: DPM Shrestha

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept.21: Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has emphasized the role of veterinarians in ensuring animal health and public health.

While highlighting that not only animals but also farmers and denizens are at risk of zoonotic diseases, DPM Shrestha said that the role of veterinarians in ensuring the good health of animals but also to public health is pivotal.

In a message sent to the first international program organized by the Veterinary Public Health Associaton Nepal and Association of Public Health Veterinarians-India along with different governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations, DPM Shrestha said, "Veterinarians are playing in LMICs to ensure the public health as it has multifaceted issues on animals, human and environment. therefore. The importance of one health approach is crucial ."

Livestock farming is an important component of the agricultural system and livelihood of low and middle-income countries (LMICs) including Nepal. It contributes significantly to national economics.
