Inner Wheel Club recognises contributions of media professionals for empowerment

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 21: Inner Wheel Club Kritipur has felicitated consulting editor of the Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC) Upesh Maharjan and sub-editor of The Rising Nepal (TRN) Nanda Lal Tiwari. 

Maharjan and Tiwari were honoured on Saturday during the Club's 5th Anniversary and Chartered Day Celebration. 

They were recognised for their contributions to the development and empowerment of women through journalism.

Addressing the function, the Chairperson of the Inner Wheel Club of Kirtipur Central, Ranjana Shakya Maharjan, shared that the Club had kept service of humanity above all and carried out such activities as blood donation, tree plantation, cultural preservation and promotion as well as issues related to women empowerment. 

Rocky Maharjan, Assistant Campus Chief of Mangal Multiple Campus, journalist Dipak Adhikari, former Chair of Rotary Club of Balaju, Dr. Kaushlyandra Kumar Das, Prof. Dr. Laxmi Bahadur Maharjan and Tuna Thapa, District Chair of Inner Wheel, were also honoured during the event. Additionally, five senior citizens were felicitated as part of the function.

In his address following the honour, Dr. Das mentioned that due to Inner Wheel's extensive global reach as a significant organisation, it must undertake substantial efforts in the social service sector.

District Chair Thapa handed over a sewing machine to Yashoda Pariyar in the ceremony.
