Diktel starts process to appoint headmasters

By Rajkumar Bhattarai,Khotang, Aug. 18: Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has started the process to appoint school headmasters as per the Education Act. 

The municipality has issued a vacancy notice according to the working procedure of the municipality, Municipal Education Act and the Federal Education Act.

A meeting of the Municipal Assembly held on July 23 decided to end the term of all the headmasters working in the community schools and start the new selection process, Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai said. 

He further informed that the former headmasters are working as the acting headmasters in the community schools within the municipality. 

The municipality issued separate vacancy notices on Monday for the appointment of headmasters in the community schools of all levels mentioning the basic qualifications of the eligible candidates. 

According to the notice, all eligible candidates as per the Headmaster Selection and Management Working Procedures-2080 can apply by August 24. 

To apply for the headmaster of the secondary level schools, one has to hold a Master’s Degree from a recognised university or should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years’ experience as a permanent teacher in community schools. 

In order to apply for the headmasters for lower secondary level (1-8), the candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree and complete at least one year as a permanent teacher in the lower secondary or five years in the primary level. 

Likewise, anyone having PLC  or grade 12 pass certificate can apply for the headmaster of primary school. But he or she has to complete at least a year as a permanent teacher. 

The applicants should sit for written and oral examinations. 

The Federal Education Act and Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipal Education Act have provisions to conduct examinations for the selection of headmasters every five years. 

Mayor Bhattarai said that the selection process would be fair and impartial.

Mayor Bhattarai said, “Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipality has made Working Procedures as per the Education Act for the recruitment of headmasters to avoid conflict regarding the irregularities in the selection procedure”. 

 He added different teachers' associations have appreciated the efforts being made by the municipality to select the headmasters.
