The sheep rearing farmers of the district are happy after timely treatment of sick sheep and goats due to lack of good pasture management, dry and cold weather.
About 2,900 sheep and goats have received free treatment in Kotila village of Chayanath Rara Municipality-6 with the financial support of helping hands - group (SASAH) Nepal, technical support of District Veterinary and Livestock Service Office and coordination of Chhayanath Rara Municipality.
Dozens of sheep and goats died last year due to sheep disease in Chhayanath Rara Municipality-6, which is a sheep pocket area of the district.
Raj Kumar Thapa, project officer of SASAH Nepal, said that they treated sick sheep and goats reaching farmers' sheds for the convenience of the farmers so that the farmers do not suffer losses in the same situation as last year.
According to him, there are 26,000 sheep and goats in that pocket area, and he said that sheep and goats are also being treated in another Mundu settlement.
Hari Bhakta Karki, a local sheep farmer of Chhyanath Rara Municipality, said that the farmers were happy to receive timely treatment.
He said, “This year, by treating the sheep and goats on time, there is a hope of keeping the outbreak of sheep disease at bay.”
Chankha Budha, a sheep farmer of Chayanath Rara Municipality-6, recalled that three sheep died due to disease when they did not get medicine for the treatment of sheep and goats in the market last year.
"Now, coming to our shed, they treated our sheep and goats easily, so we are very happy," he said.
Hari Bahadur Khatri, technician of the District Veterinary and Livestock Service Office, said that the place was chosen because there are many sheep rearing farmers in Chayanath Rara Municipality-6.
