All 7 provinces get Chief Ministers

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 12: All seven provinces have now new chief ministers after the ruling coalition on Wednesday appointed chief ministers in four of the seven provinces.

Earlier, chief ministers were appointed in Province-1, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

According to our district correspondents, in Lumbini Province, Lila Giri of the CPN-UML has been appointed as Chief Minister, Raj Kumar Sharma of CPN (Maoist Centre) in Karnali Province, Rajendra Singh Rawal of the UML in Sudurpaschim Province and Saroj Kumar Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal in Madhes Province. 

Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed Giri as Chief Minister of Lumbini Province as per the Article 168 (2) of the constitution. 

Chief Minister Giri will be taking oath of office and secrecy with the Province Chief on Thursday. 

Giri has garnered the support of 58 provincial members of eight political parties and two independent assembly members. Lumbini Province has 87 members.

In Karnali, Raj Kumar Sharma, 51, of the CPN (MC) has been appointed as Chief Minister. 

Province Chief Tilak Pariyar appointed Sharma as Chief Minister of the Province also on Wednesday. 

Sharma garnered the support of 25 of 40 provincial members, including CPN (MC)’s 13, UML’s 10, RPP and CPN (Unified Socialist)’s one each. 

NC, the largest party in the provincial assembly with 14 seats, and one independent provincial assembly member will remain in the opposition.

Similarly, in Sudurpaschim, Rajendra Singh Rawal of the CPN-UML has been appointed as Chief Minister. Province Chief Devraj Joshi appointed Rawal as CM of the province. 

Rawal,58, has garnered support of 29 provincial assembly members, including UML’s 10, CPN (MC)’s 1 seven of Nagarik Unmukti Party and one of RPP. Chief Minister Rawal is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday afternoon. 

Likewise, Saroj Kumar Yadav, the parliamentary party leader of Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N), has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhes Province. 

Province Chief Harishankar Mishra appointed Yadav as the Chief Minister of the province on Wednesday. Yadav had presented his claim for the post with the support of 63 provincial assembly members. 

Yadav was appointed the Chief Minister as according to the provisions of Article 168 of the Constitution. He has the support of 23 members of CPN-UML, 16 members of JSP-Nl, 13 mem

bers of Janamat Party, six members of RPP, one member of Nagarik Unmukti Party, one member of Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party and two independent provincial assembly members, namely Surita Sah and Anirudh Prasad Singh.

The newly appointed Chief Minister also took the oath of his office and secrecy in the Office of Province on the same day. 

Province Chief Harishankar Mishra, outgoing Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut and others congratulated the newly appointed Chief Minister after his appointment to the post. Newly appointed Chief Minister Yadav said that the issue of ministry expansion will be carried out fallowing a discussion with the parties.
