Janakpurdham, Dec 25: An all-party meeting of the parties represented in the Province Assembly is to be held at 1 pm on December 26 aiming at forging consensus on various topics including oath-taking.

The Madhes Province Assembly Secretariat has called the meeting for reaching an all-party consensus on various topics including the swearing-in of the newly-elected Province Assembly members.

Ranjit Kumar Yadav, Madhes Province Assembly Secretariat Secretary, said 10 parties representing the Province Assembly will be participating in the all-party meeting. "The meeting is taking place in coordination with the parties. We will then prepare for the swearing-in and the Province Assembly meeting," he said.

Article 179 of the Constitution of Nepal stipulates that the members of the Province Assembly should take the oath of office and secrecy as per the law before taking part in the Assembly meeting for the first time.

Similarly, Article 183 (1) of the Constitution has the provision that the Province Chief shall call the meeting of the Province Assembly within 20 days of the announcement of the final results of the Province Assembly election results.
