Kathmandu, Dec 19 : The federal parliamentary-secretariat has intensified its preparation for administering oath of office to the newly-elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR).
Once the
President administers oath of office and secrecy to the senior-most member
among the newly-elected, other members would be sworn in later.
In order to
identify the senior-most member, the secretariat has already sent a letter to
the Election Commission (EC) requesting to furnish age details in this
regard.
President Bidya
Devi Bhandari has called upon the parties to present their claim for Prime
Minister in seven days within December 25.
Among the
newly-elected members, the age details of Chitra Bahadur KC, Mahantha Thakur,
Mahendra Roy Yadav and Pashupati Shumsher Rana seem to be scrutinized.
If any member
wishes to take oath of office in own mother language, s/he shall arrange
translation of the oath paper in to the concerned language and inform the
parliament-secretariat three days before the oath-taking ceremony.
According to the
information provided by the secretariat, as many as 36 members had taken oath
in 11 mother languages (excluding Nepali) after the House of Representatives
election, 2074 BS. The members, as informed, were administered with oath of
office in Maithili, Tharu, Bhojpuri, Magar, Hindi, Abadhi, Nepalbhasha,
Banjika, Newari, Urdu and Tamang languages.
The secretariat
would also offer logo to the newly-elected members of the HoR on the
oath-taking ceremony. Each logo is prepared at the cost of Rs 5,800.
Though the
swearing-in day has yet to be fixed, the ceremony would be held at parliament
building in New Baneswor within five days.
Spokesperson of
the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Dr Rojnath Pandey said the members would be
provided with a bag containing the Constitution, diary, pen, parliamentary
regulation, directives and other publications.
