Septuagenarian lady murdered over land dispute

By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, Dec. 12: A septuagenarian lady has been killed due to a dispute over land ownership.

70-year-old Sagar Devi of Belhi, Chakraghatta Rural Municiaplity-2 in Sarlahi was murdered Monday afternoon.

The police have said that murdered Devi’s brother-in-law Pukar Raya,65, has been arrested for beating the lady which resulted in her death.

Pukar’s son Jitendra Raya, aka Jitu, and daughter-in-law Anita Devi Raya are at large and the police have initiated a manhunt.

Locals have said that Pukar, his son Jitendra and daughter-in-law Anita were involved in the beating of the deceased Sagar Devi.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Pravin Pokharel of Sarlahi, said that they have received information about the long-standing dispute between Pukar and his elder brother, Sagar Devi’s husband.

The body of the deceased has been kept at the provincial hospital in Malangwa for postmortem.
