Kathmandu, Oct 23: Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand asserted that the incumbent government had accorded topmost priority to security system of the country.
Addressing a seminar organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Bagmati Province's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law here on Sunday, Minister Khand said that the government had further strengthened the security of the country amid the limited resources.
Khand reiterated," The government has always accorded topmost priority to security. We will further streamline it in coming days." He lauded the role of the security agencies in disaster response efforts apart from discharging their regular duties to maintain law and order.
According to him, the incumbent government was aspiring to hold Provincial Assembly and House of Representatives election on the same day and ina single go (November 20 this year) just like the local level election on May 13 this year.
He instructed the security agencies to remain on high alert regarding the security concerns and threats during the upcoming election. The Minister opined that the seminar on security had enabled environment to hold the twin elections on the same day.
On a different note, Minister Khand remorse that the public were facing grave problems in lack of the authentication of the Citizenship Bill that were endorsed by the House of Representatives and National Assembly. "In lack of authentication of the Citizenship Bill, many citizens could not open a bank account, achieve higher education and apply for employment," he acknowledged.
He clarified that the Citizenship Bill was not introduced to provide citizenship certificate to any foreign citizens.(RSS)
