Minister Shrestha lauds role of photography in reflecting society


Kathmandu, Aug 9: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, has described photography as an effective genre of journalism.   

In his address to a programme organised here today to give away photojournalism awards, the minister said photojournalism is one of the effective means of communication as it paints a real picture of society.    

He took the time to say that photography has contributed to the conservation of art and culture, imparting significant information on the related field.    

The programme organized by Bishnu Nati Photojournalism Award Guthi and this year's Bishnu Nati Photojournalism Award was presented to Gorkhapatra Daily's photojournalist Bikash Dware. He bags a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a letter of appreciation. He is the first recipient of the award.  

Organisation founder Natikaji Maharjan said the award ceremony will be continued in the years ahead. (RSS)
