Lumbini dominate President Running Shield

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 15: Lumbini Province lifted the trophy of the 12th Central Level President Running Shield held in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Lumbini dominated the event with 16 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals. Lumbini Province players participated in the six sports disciplines at the event organized by the National Sports Council. 

Similarly, Bagmati Province ended in the second spot with 16 gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals. Sudurpaschim Province occupied the third position with eight gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals. Gandaki Province and Karnali Province claimed five gold medals respectively. Gandaki also bagged 11 silver and 11 bronze medals.  

Karnali clinched ten silver and 15 bronze medals. The seven provinces vied for the 50 gold medals in the President Running Shield.

Nisha Chaudhary has set a new national record in the individual and team categories. She put a new national record in the Women's Long-Jump after jumping 5.47-meter. She bettered the 5.45meter record of Shila Chaudhary set on 2018 April 23.

Chaudhary also broke the junior national record in the 100-meter with 12.53 seconds. 

She also set the new national mark in the 100-meter relay. She broke the record of Samjhana Tharu by clocking 54.20 seconds.
