By Kedar Timalsina Banepa, July 11: Fifty-one cooperatives producing and distributing milk in Kavrepalanchowk district have received grant from the Bagmati Provincial government.
Around Rs. 29.2 million has been provided to the milk producers, agriculture and multi-purpose cooperatives operating in the district.
According to the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Centre Kavre, 51 cooperatives in the district have received the subsidy based on milk production in the fiscal year 2021/22.
The cooperatives that produced 16.433 million litres of milk in the current fiscal year received Rs. 29.2 million as grant. The Bagmati Provincial government is providing subsidy of Rs. 1.779 to a litre of milk.
This time, 24 cooperatives of Mandandeupur Municipality, which has been leading local levels in milk production in the district, have received the highest grant amount.
According to the centre, 24 cooperatives of Mandandeupur Municipality have received a subsidy amounting to Rs. 8.425 million by producing 4.736 million litres of milk in a year.
Similarly, 14 cooperatives of Panchkhal Municipality of the district have produced 4.038 million litres of milk and received a grant of Rs. 7.184 million.
Seven cooperatives of Panauti Municipality have collected 2.161 million litres of milk, three cooperatives in Dhulikhel collected 3.152 million litres, one cooperative of Roshi Rural Municipality has collected 1.07 million litres, one cooperative of Banepa Municipality 440,569 litres and one cooperative of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality collected 827,538 litres milk in a year.
The cooperatives of Panauti Municipality received a grant of Rs. 3.833 million and that of Dhulikhel Municipality received Rs. 5.6 million.
Similarly, the cooperative in Roshi Rural Municipality has received a subsidy of Rs. 1.915 million, the cooperative in Banepa Municipality got Rs. 783,772 and that of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality received Rs. 1.472 million.
The provincial government has provided the grant in milk to 250 cooperatives in the province as provisioned in Article 9 of the Milk Production Based Grant Distribution (Seventh Amendment) Procedure 2075.
It is mentioned in the working procedure that to be eligible to receive the grant a cooperative should collect at least 300 litres of milk a day, milk should be collected for at least 200 days annually, regular annual general meeting, audited, permanent account number should be done and tax be paid.
