By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 22: Around two lakh children aged 5-12 residing in the Kathmandu district will be administered a vaccine against COVID-19 from tomorrow.

Basanta Adhikari, Health Chief at the District Health Office, Kathmandu, said that as many as one lakh ninety thousand children will be administered the Pfizer-BioNTech from tomorrow. The aim is to inoculate the targeted children within a week.

The vaccination drive will be launched from 1,300 vaccination centers across the district.

He said that the second dose of the vaccine can be administered 21 days apart and has urged guardians to inoculate their children assuring the safety of the vaccine saying that the World Health Organization(WHO) has given its approval.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is administering the vaccine to children aged between 5- 12.

The vaccination for the said group will be organized in two phases, first in 27 districts from June 23 to June 29 and later in the remaining 50 districts.
