By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 4: Four new foreign films including Hollywood film Top Gun: Maverick, Bollywood film Samrat Prithviraj, South Indian films Vikram and Major were released in Nepali cinema theaters on Friday.
Top Gun: Maverick is an American action drama directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger.
This film is a sequel to Top Gun (1986). The film was also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week and it is one of the highest grossing films of actor Cruise.
Bollywood film Samrat Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar and the Miss World winner Manushi Chillar in the lead roles was also released in Nepali cinema theatres.
Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film is based on Prithviraj Raso - a Braj language epic poem which praises bravery of the 12th century Indian king Prithiviraj Chauhan and his romance with Sanyogita, the daughter of his opponent, King Jaichand of Kannauj.
Prithviraj Chauhan was a Rajput king of the Chahamana dynasty of India.
Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood have also done in the film. Vikram is a South Indian film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
The action genera film has Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles.
This is a film based on a gangster story. Major, a biographical action drama directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, was among the four foreign films released in Kathmandu on Friday.
Directed by Shashi Kiran Tikka, the film is done by Adivi Shesh, Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala and Prakash Raj.
The film is based on the life of Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an Indian soldier, who died in the 2008 Mumbai attack. Unnikrishnan is a recipient of Ashoka Chakra.
